Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. 25 Israeli raids, 48 road closures, arrests, etc.


Situation report in the Palestinian Territories for June 16, 2009 by the Palestinian Monitoring Group:

West Bank - All Districts: Israeli army continues to intensify its restrictions at checkpoints set up on the main roads connecting the West Bank districts, thereby isolating the northern districts from the southern districts as well as the Jericho district and the Jordan Valley from the remainder of the West Bank.

Gaza - All Districts: At 2:00 on 18 January 2009, the Israeli army declared a unilateral ceasefire. In the meantime, armed Palestinian groups declared a one-week-long ceasefire. Meanshire, the ceasefire was extended until 05 February 2009. The ceasefire is holding despite the end of the specified period.

The Israeli army breached the ceasefire by opening fire from war boats, opening fire intensively towards fishing boats at sea an arresting 2 fishermen (brothers) after intercepting their fishing boat as they were fishing opposite As Sudaniyah area beach, west of Beit Lahiya town in the Northern Gaza district.  Full Report - PMG
