OCHA: Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes doubled in 2011

IMEMC, October 01 – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied territories (OCHA) reported that Israeli demolitions of Palestinian homes have doubled in 20111 comparing to the figures of 2010.

OCHA reported that Israel demolished 409 Palestinian homes and structures during this year comparing to 290 in 2010, while 804 Palestinian were displaced this year comparing to 374 last year.

The report further indicated that 139 Palestinians were wounded in several attacks carried out by Israeli settlers since the beginning of this year until the date of this report, comparing to 74 Palestinians injured in similar attacks carried out by the settlers last year.

Also, the report revealed that armed Israeli settlers carried out 326 attacks since the beginning of this year until the date of this report leading to several injuries and destruction of property, comparing to 202 attacks carried out last year.

The report added that the number of Palestinians who were injured by the Israeli army arrived to 417 Palestinians since the beginning of this year comparing to 194 who were injured in the same timeframe of last year.

Israeli troops shot and killed 85 Palestinians since the beginning of this year until the date of this report, while 53 Palestinians killed in the first nine months of 2010.
