Jewish Agency encourages Jewish American students to emigrate to Israel

Targeting campuses with large Jewish communities and strong pro-Israel and Zionist organizations, the fellowship is awarded to one student per campus to organize students interested in immigrating to Israel, provide space and tools for them to network with like-minded students and learn about the aliya process.

"Many Jewish students on campus are thinking about moving to Israel after college," said Liran Avisar, head of the agency's aliya department in North America, in a press release. "But they have no one to turn to for information or support. The Campus Aliya Fellowship will provide students the information and support they need and the opportunity to meet others who are also considering moving to Israel."

In 2009, there has been an estimated 15 percent increase in aliya from across the United States, according to the Jewish Agency Web site
