Bethlehem prepares for Christmas; strives to support local Palestinian businesses

IMEMC- During a special meeting with heads and officials of government institutions, and mayors in the Bethlehem district, Bethlehem Governor, Abdul-Fattah Hamayel, stated that as Bethlehem readies to celebrate Christmas, its markets are now 100% free of Israeli settlement products.

...The governor yet said that there are attempts to smuggle settlement products into Bethlehem, but added that despite the fact the it will not be easy to counter the smuggling, the Palestinian Authority will continue to act especially since settlement products harm local businesses and the Palestinian economy.

Taher Dannoun, head of the National Economy Department, stated that thousands of stores were inspected to ensure settlement products are not sold there, and that 216 stores were fined due to violating the law by selling settlement products. Read more
