Defence for Children: Israeli army continues to attack, endanger Palestinian children

Defence for Children International [PDF] - On 1 November, DCI-Palestine released a new report on settler violence - Under Attack: Settler Violence against Palestinian Children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The report documents the cases of three children killed, and the injury of 42 others during a two year period.

On 21 November, an Israeli military court sentenced two Givati Brigade staff sergeants convicted of forcing a nine-year-old boy at gunpoint to search for explosives during the war in Gaza. In a lenient ruling, the sergeants were demoted in rank and given three-month suspended sentences for „inappropriate conduct‟ for using the child as a human shield. One day after the military court ruling, DCI-Palestine documented a new case of a 13-year-old boy used as a human shield by the Israeli army in August. Read more [PDF]
