Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Israeli soldiers arrest Palestinian lawmaker in Hebron

Wafa– Israeli soldiers Thursday arrested 55-year-old Palestinian legislative council member Samir al-Qadi from the Hamas-backed Change and Reform bloc, according to security sources.

Soldiers arrested Qadi from his home in Surif, a town northwest of Hebron, after surrounding it and raiding his house, searching it and tampering with its contents.

Qadi, who is also a doctor, was arrested several times in the past the last of which was in 2006 and was released in November 2009 after spending 42 months in the Israeli prisons.

The arrest of Qadi brings up to 17 the number of the legislative council members held in Israeli jails, most of them, like Qadi, had been arrested by the Israeli soldiers in the last seven months shortly after their earlier release. Nine of them came from the Hebron area.

The re-arrested Hamas lawmakers were placed under administrative detention for six months, which was later renewed for three of them.
