Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Egypt finds corpse after shooting near Israel border

Ma’an – The body of an Egyptian citizen was found Wednesday near the Israel border, Egyptian sources said shortly after Israeli officials confirmed opening fire at a group of people in the same area.

The deceased was a member of a smuggling group that attempted to enter Israel, the sources said. His body, found near Taba, had two bullet wounds to the back. Others involved were injured but escaped with their lives, the sources said.

Egyptian authorities said they were investigating the incident.

An Israeli military spokesman said its forces fired on a group of several men, one of whom was armed with a kalashnikov, who had entered Israel near the southern city of Eilat.

Soldiers at the scene of the shooting found a bag containing drugs, the spokesman added.

The investigation was being coordinated with Egyptian forces, another Israeli official said.
