Ma’an- Israeli bulldozers began on Wednesday to remove the rubble of the Shepherd's Hotel, after it was demolished in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem two days earlier.
Bulldozing resumed after an Israeli court rejected a petition submitted by the Husseini family, which claims ownership of the site that is contested by an Israeli settler group.
The family built the property and were exiled under the British mandate, then took control of the building when Jerusalem came under Jordanian rule. In 1967 Israel occupied the area, and eventually took control of the home under the controversial law of absentee property. It was then sold to a private settlement developer. Read more
