PIC- Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Conference, has sent messages to foreign ministers of permanent members of the UN Security Council warning them that serious threats were endangering the holy Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
Ihsanoglu underlined that the OIC considers the Aqsa Mosque a red line and that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) is fully responsible for what may occur as a result of any harm done to the holy site.
He urged the international officials to block the IOA from further infringements on the Aqsa and allow the Islamic Awkaf to launch the required maintenance for the Mosque.
Ihsanoglu addressed a separate message to the UNESCO director general asking him to expedite the formation of a committee of international experts with the participation of experts from the OIC member countries to evaluate the safety of the Aqsa compound's buildings. Read more
