Amid military fears of settler violence, villagers report attack

Israeli settlers from the Yitzhar colony near Nablus attacked homes in the village of Asira, targeting two families on Friday, an official said.

...the homes of Jamal Yousif and Ahmad Dauod were surrounded by settlers who carried weapons and threw stones.

Neighboring families came out to defend the families under attack, Doughlas said, and clashes erupted between the groups.

There were no reports of injuries.

...The incidents come amid reported fears of Israeli military officials, who say they are concerned that settlers may escalate their attacks on Palestinian civilians in response to the recent government bill implementing a 10-month partial moratorium on construction in settlements in Palestinian areas outside Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem, excluding public buildings and minor renovation projects, Israel's daily, Haaretz reported Friday.
