Police bust Israeli Internet gambling ring

Police on Tuesday exposed an Internet gambling network, which was operated by Israelis using a server in Eastern Europe.

Following an extended undercover investigation, Israel Anti-Fraud Unit officers and the anti-gambling force arrested five men suspected of being involved in the gambling network.

An Israeli who lives abroad and his brother who is a Tel Aviv resident were alleged to be heading the operation.

.....The suspects' gambling sites were mostly used to bet on sports events including world soccer, football, baseball, boxing and poker, as well as casino gambling. The bets were allegedly carried out using credit cards and transfers to bank accounts.

An Internet sports gambling industry was discovered last month which spun around 340 million shekels since May of 2007.
