The Palestinian Center for Development & Media Freedoms (MADA), a Ramallah-based NGO that monitors press freedom in the occupied territories, released its first film on Monday.

MADA monitored 257 violations during 2008, and more than 150 violations during 2009, committed by Israeli forces and settlers, in addition to Palestinian security services, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, Mousa said. "The film also shows how the geographical and political division and continued conflict between Hamas and Fateh affected the Palestinian media negatively," he added.
Moussa said the film should be interpreted as a message to the Fatah-administered Palestinian Authority and de facto Hamas government in Gaza "to stop the attacks against journalists because of the negative consequences on the media and the Palestinian cause." He also said film should encourage the international community to "pressure the Israeli government to abide [by] international conventions, which guarantee freedom of expression, and to stop the violations."...
