Israel frees soldiers who used Palestinian boy as human shield

Ma’an - An Israeli military court defied prosecutors Sunday and handed down only suspended sentences to two soldiers convicted of using a Palestinian boy as a "human shield" during Israel's Gaza offensive at the turn of 2008-2009.

The two, from an infantry brigade, were given three months probation, and demoted one rank, from staff-sergeant to sergeant. Read more
