Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Water situation deteriorating significantly in Gaza

Wafa- The water situation in the Gaza Strip is severely deteriorating due to the infrastructure destruction caused by continuous Israeli attacks on Gaza and the establishment of wastewater treatment plants over fresh water reservoirs, said a report by the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

The report called for the establishment of seawater desalination plants to compensate for the acute shortage of water needed in Gaza, and to stop the drilling of new water wells as they drain the underground water reservoir.

It addressed the main humanitarian projects implemented in Gaza in May by local and international organizations, showing their increasing size of intervention and significant role in reconstructing Gaza.

The report also monitored Israeli violations: the continuous blockade, killing civilians and attacking fishermen through confiscating their boats and shooting at them.

It monitored the increase in numbers of aid ships reaching or preparing to head toward Gaza, which reflects the significant international support for ending the siege imposed on it.

The report also addressed the suffering of Palestinians due to the ongoing electricity crisis in Gaza during the heat waves of the summer.
