Bil'in activists test out Cellcom advert at Friday rally

Bethlehem - Ma'an - Dozens of Palestinian residents, Israeli activists and international supporters suffered tear-gas inhalation at a rally against the separation barrier in the village of Bil'in on Friday, according to local activists.

In one encounter soldiers immediately fired on a Palestinian who jokingly tossed a football over the barrier, countering a recent portrayal by an Israeli mobile company...

The large mobile provider Cellcom aired a controversial ad showing soldiers and Palestinians in an impromptu match and party, accompanied by music and dancing girls, after a ball is kicked over the West Bank wall. But Friday's incident conveyed what the activists said actually happens when a ball lands across the barrier.

"The TV commercial makes light of the Palestinian situation," according to the committee. It shows Israeli soldiers having fun at the Palestinians' expense, "and ignores and mocks the real suffering, racial discrimination, and poverty the Palestinians on the other side of the wall face daily."
