Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Israeli troops detain PPP man at Azzun gate

Maan
Qalqiliya – Israeli troops detained 19-year-old Palestine People’s Party activist Diya Muhammad Younis at the entrance of Azzun village early Friday. Younis was detained as he travelled out of the village. Soldiers stopped him at an improvised checkpoint on the road leading out of the area, and took him to an unknown location.

Locals say Israeli forces are frequently stationed at the road gate, one of the 613 closure obstacles in the West Bank, and regularly pull locals out of taxis and detain them. Azzun village is surrounded on all sides by the Israeli separation wall, illegal settlements and a settler-only bypass road.

Israel built a two-lane road tunnel beneath the settler road to maintain separation between the road systems. It is the only road out of the village.
