Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Jerusalem mufti: The occupation is wiping out our history

Maan
jerusalem – Palestinians living in Jerusalem are in great need of support to withstand Israeli attempts to wipe out their identity, General Mufti for Jerusalem and Palestine Mohammad Husein urged Friday.

Citing the recent decision to delete the word “Nakba” (Catastrophe, referring to the expulsion of Palestinians from their homes in historic Palestine in 1948) from textbooks in Jerusalem, and the ongoing campaign to change the names of Arab cities, towns, villages and streets now in Israel to “Jewish names,” like the re-naming of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) to Yerushalaim, a transliteration of the Hebrew.

Husien issued a statement urging International organizations and universities to support the Palestinians in confronting this “escalation in the racist campaign against their existence and culture.” The statement continued, asking if “Palestinians do not have the right to their own history?” and whether the occupation had the right to “wipe it out altogether?”

The mufti also condemned the publication of photos of the former Jerusalem Mufti Amin Al-Huseini standing alongside Hitler. He said the photo was published out of context and was meant to incite violence against Palestinians. Full story
