Israel delivered nine stop-work orders to residents building homes and agricultural infrastructure south of Hebron Monday, locals reported. Troops also detained the owner of one of the homes.
International observers in the area under the Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) said the orders were delivered to seven new houses, one cave, and one cistern in At-Tuwani. The stop-work orders often precede a demolition order, following which demolition can come at any time.
...According to CPT, children chanted slogans challenging the soldiers to deliver the orders to the continuously expanding settlement across the valley, while others prayed in front of homes where orders were to be delivered in an attempt to discourage the soldiers from proceeding.
The observer group reported two violent incidents during the order deliveries, noting an Israeli officer striking a child chanting outside one of the homes, and another shoving a local to the ground.
