Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Two young Palestinians killed in tunnel collapse

Ma'an
Two young Gazans were killed and eight others injured in a tunnel that collapsed under the border between Egypt and the southern Strip city of Rafah overnight.

Palestinian medical sources identified one of the dead as 17-year-old Majid Abu Zuhri, while the other remained unidentified. The sources said benzene, which was being smuggled through the tunnel, was leaking before the collapse.

The tunnel industry is notoriously dangerous, and dozens of workers are killed each year in workplace accidents. Above the regular collapse of the sandy tunnels, Israeli and Egyptian border police routinely throw explosives into their access points, or flood the passages with water or fuel. More than 150 Palestinians have been killed in such incidents since the siege on Gaza began in 2007.
