Israel's Sharon prison kept woman in isolation for four years

Salfit – A Palestinian woman detained in 2005 has spent the last four years in an isolated cell tortured by prison guards, the Palestinian Detainees Society reported on Thursday.

Following a visit to the Sharon prison, lawyers with the society said they spoke with Mariam At-Tarabin from Jericho who was sentenced to eight years in Israeli prison after being seized in 2005. The woman testified to lawyers that she has been kept in isolation since her sentencing.

At-Tarabin said soldiers have told her she will remain in isolation, deprived of the company of any other prisoners, until 4 October. She said they gave no reason for the treatment. Full story
