Israel Risks US Wrath Over Palestinian Homes

Israel is risking another confrontation with the US by demolishing a record number of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem.

The move comes just days before US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrives here.

Jerusalem city authorities demolished five houses in Arab neighbourhoods on Tuesday, an unprecedented number on one day.

...The move has been condemned by Ir Amim - an organisation promoting coexistence in Jerusalem... "The extreme behaviour of the municipality is an irresponsible step that could escalate the situation in the city and bring it to a new boiling point."
