MoH demands release of detained, injured Palestinian

PA Minister of Health Fathi Abu Moghli called on international institutions and organizations to immediately intervene Wednesday, to secure the release an injured Palestinian, detained as he was traveling to seek medical treatment in a Jerusalem hospital.

Ahmad Samir Salim Asfour was detained at the Erez/Beit Hanoun checkpoint in northern Gaza on 24 December, whilst en route to undergo treatment for diabetes-related digestive and pancreas trouble as well as a disability sustained during the Israeli war on Gaza where a nerve was lacerated and he lost use of his arm.

The Minister of Health called on the Israeli Health Minister to intervene, highlighting that Asfour’s detention violates international agreements and the Fourth Geneva Convention. Full story
