Syrian prisoner hopes to be freed in Shalit deal

After nearly a quarter century in Israel’s custody, Syrian prisoner Sidqi Al-Maqt hopes he will be freed in an expected prisoner swap between Israel and the captors of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit...

....... He was detained on 23 August 1985 on charges of resisting the Israeli occupation and was sentenced to 27 years in jail. He was born in Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights. His brother Bishr Al-Maqt was freed last October. Full story
