Two Gaza crossings open, as four remain closed

Israeli authorities opened the Kerem Shalom and Nahal Oz crossings into the besieged Gaza Strip on Tuesday, while Karni remained closed, a Palestinian crossings official said.

The official, Raed Fattouh, said around 100 truckloads of commercial merchandize and humanitarian aid would be allowed through Kerem Shalom. ...limited amounts of domestic gas and industrial diesel for Gaza’s sole power plant would be permitted...

Since 2007 Israel has maintained a near total closure of its borders with Gaza, slashing imports of vital goods and banning the Strip’s 1.5 million inhabitants from traveling.

There are six border crossings into the Gaza Strip, where Egypt and Israel control the flow of movement of goods and humanitarian aid.

Egyptian authorities have been complicit in Israel's devastating blockade on the Gaza Strip by equally limiting the transfer of vitally need humanitarian aid. Full story
