Israeli forces opened fire on protesters at two anti-wall demonstrations in the occupied West Bank on Friday, according to Palestinian and Israeli sources.
The Bil'in chapter of the Popular Committee Against the Wall said in a statement that when Palestinians attempted to cross over a fence cutting the town in two, soldiers "showered them with tear gas."
A number of international activists, including a group from France, accompanied local farmers seeking to harvest olives on the other side of half of the Ramallah-area town, which has been declared off-limits because of its proximity to an illegal Israeli settlement, the statement said.
Demonstrators were seen carrying ladders and other tools used to harvest olives, but once they arrived at the gate of the wall, which is still under construction, Israeli soldiers fired tear-gas grenades, injuring four.
The injured were identified as a journalist, who asked not to be named, a French woman, Marten Bogho, and two Palestinians, Abdullah Alrwashda and Jaber Abu Rahmah.
Dozens of others were said to have suffered tear-gas inhalation. Full story
