Four Palestinians faint after inhaling CS gas

At least four Palestinians fainted after Israeli soldiers sprayed tear gas at a demonstration in the village of Burin, southwest of the West Bank city of Nablus on Friday.

Under the protection of the Israeli military on Friday, armed settlers attacked demonstrators and clashes were reported on both sides, while soldiers fired tear-gas canisters that managed to injure only the Palestinians involved in the incident.

Four Palestinians were said to have fainted from the CS chemical, and two were hospitalized in Ramallah, according to medics on the scene. Ma'an's photographers were on the scene, and documented the incident.

Witnesses said the incident occurred during a demonstration against the confiscation of 300 dunums of the village's land for the use of illegal West Bank settlements.

Some 500 protesters were estimated to have attended to the event, including 32 internationals, in what they said was a nonviolent rally on lands confiscated for settlers.

Settlers had seized control over 150 dunums of land several days earlier, which was in addition to another 150 taken months before. Full story
