Israel announces next land annexation near Jenin

Israel will confiscate 115 dunums from the northern West Bank town of Ya’bad west of Jenin for military purposes, officials told the Palestinian civil liaison office Tuesday.

The land is located near the illegal Israeli settlement of Shaqed. Aproximately 10% of the settlement is built on privately owned Palestinian lands, the rest is built on communal village land belonging to Ya’bad, residents say.

The mayor of Ya’bad, Walid Abbadi, said over the phone that the land that will now be confiscated is also privately owned. Most, he said, are planted with olive trees...
