Studies show that US coverage is Israeli-centric. The main bureaus for CNN, Associated Press, Time, etc. are located in Israel and often staffed by Israelis. The son of the NY Times bureau chief is in the Israeli army;"pundit" Jeffrey Goldberg served in the IDF; Wolf Blitzer worked for AIPAC. Because the U.S. gives Israel over $8 million/day - more than to any other nation - we feel it is essential that we be fully informed on this region. Below are news reports to augment mainstream coverage.

Israeli occupation forces surround mosque, open fire on it, use human shields, order elderly inhabitants to leave

Ma’an – Israeli forces surrounded a mosque in the occupied West Bank late Sunday, opening fire and ordering it evacuated.

It was not immediately clear what provoked the standoff at the Ar-Rihiya Mosque south of Hebron, where two Palestinians were detained.

Local residents told Ma'an that Israeli forces ordered elderly residents to evacuate the facility, but they refused. Soldiers used several Palestinians as human shields while surrounding the mosque, onlookers said, during confrontations between local youth and soldiers who opened fire with tear-gas canisters, rubber-coated bullets, and live ammunition.

An Israeli military spokeswoman did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
