Israeli Forces Arrest Ten Year Old Boy in East Jerusalem

Defense for Children International - On 21 January 2011, a 10-year-old boy from Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem, is arrested by Israeli forces, and taken away for questioning.

The neighbourhood of Silwan is situated just outside the Old City walls, in occupied East Jerusalem. According to the UN, Silwan has become one of the main centres of illegal Israeli settler activity, and the Jerusalem Municipal Council currently has plans to demolish 22 houses in the neighbourhood to make way for an archaeological garden. Tensions run high and violent clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian children are common in the neighbourhood.
