Israeli checkpoint repairs to divert settler traffic into Palestinian villages

Ma'an- ...The diversion will take settlers from four illegally built settlements in the northern West Bank into Area B, a zone under Palestinian civilian control, and Israeli military control. Settlers enjoy free movement through more than 60 percent of the West Bank demarcated as Area C under the Oslo Accords signed in the 1990s, and have some access to Area B.

The Palestinian Authority said it was carrying out the road work in coordination with Israeli authorities.

Settler violence against Palestinians in the northern West Bank has risen over the last month, with three incidents reported in the past week.

Two agricultural fields were set ablaze by settlers in the region, and 12 cars were vandalized in the wake of a settler outpost evacuation near Shilo, an illegal settlement south of Nablus. Read more
