Israeli forces arrest daughter of Al-Bireh mayor

Ma’an- Israeli forces arrested the daughter of the Mayor of Al-Bireh on Wednesday, the Palestinian Information Center reported.

“Israel’s army has arrested Bushra Al-Tawil, 18, daughter of Jamal Al-Tawil, Mayor of Al-Bireh, after raiding her family home in the Um Ash-Sharayet neighborhood in Al-Bireh,” a researcher from the organization Ahmed Al-Beitawi said.

Israeli soldiers raided the house and seized computers and personal documents, before taking Bushra to the Russian compound for interrogation.

Bushra Al-Tawil had finished her Tawjihi, or general secondary, exams two days ago, Al-Beitawi said.

Israeli forces had arrested her father, the current mayor of Al-Bireh, during the first Intifada.

Jamal Al-Tawil was detained for several months under administrative detention without being charged. Read more
